Sorry it’s been a while since the last post. Hubbard Street is on tour abroad (Israel for the last two weeks) and the internet situation has been iffy at best. But here’s hoping there will be time and internet for more regular posts in the coming weeks.
Now for a fun first post back, HERE is the YouTube page of Jonathan Alsberry , dancer with the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and founder of KDT, which is short for Kuntemporary Dance Theater. KDT takes some of the best dancers from NYC and beyond and films them having fun being straight up fierce. It’s definitely worth a YouTube subscription, because if you like dancing these videos will never fail to brighten your day. For example:
Chunky Move

Chunky Move is a company everyone should know about. It was founded in Melbourne, Australia by choreographer Gideon Obarzanek in 1995 and produces high quality, extremely progressive work across a broad spectrum of concepts. They also have a number of programs to foster the Australian dance community, build new audiences, and introduce more people to the joy of dancing. Check out their beautiful website HERE .
They will be performing their groundbreaking work Mortal Engine at BAM from December 9-12. Below is a link to the Youtube trailer for the piece. It looks to be a truly mind-boggling collaboration of technology and contemporary dance and I for one am seriously considering a quick trip to NYC to see the show. If you can make it, I think this performance looks like a must see.
